We are Colourblind

Indie Rock based in Bozeman, Montana

Sam was a guitarist going to school in Bozeman, Montana, when he crossed paths with Woody, another musician with a knack for songwriting and a love for the same records. What started as playing some covers together turned into bouncing ideas back and forth to write music of their own. Before long, they had enough songs for a (rough) set and decided to throw a garage show for some friends in town. That night laid the foundation for something bigger. Among the crammed garage audience was Cade, who was drawn to what the two kids were up to. After talking post-show, he joined as the drummer, solidifying their core lineup, and further developing the identity of Colourblind.

The band spent the next few months playing local gigs and refining their sound. The following summer, at one of their shows, they met Louie, whose bass playing brought the final missing piece. With the full lineup in place, Colourblind began to carve out their identity in the Montana music scene, playing venues like the Tune Up, Filling Station, and Armory Music Hall, leading up to the release of their debut EP on February 28th.

Woody

Vocals / Keys

Whatup I’m Woody, and I like singing. I grew up playing bluegrass and Texas-style fiddle, then picked up the cello before getting hooked on choir in high school. My heroes when I was young were The Beach Boys, Queen, and The Beatles, so I learned ukulele and piano to cover their work. Luckily I ran into this group of guys, who make it sound a lot better than just me. Now I’m finding new inspiration in Oasis, Peach Pit, and (always) The Beatles.

Sam

Guitar / Vocals

Yo! I play guitar. I picked up the instrument thanks to my dad and sister. Music has become a therapy for me, there’s just so much peace and creativity sitting down with a guitar in my hands. My musical palette is all over the place, but I grew up with lots of Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. These days I draw inspiration from groups like Mako Road and The Backseat Lovers, but also legends like Neil Young and The Rolling Stones.

Louie

Bass Guitar

Howdy! I've been laying down the low end on bass for almost 10 years now, playing in bands most of the time. Drawing inspiration from great session players like Chuck Rainey and Tony levin, and stage wizards like Flea and Joe Dart, I have honed my own style of melodic runs and funk grooves. Along with bass I also play guitar, steel guitar, keys and banjo. When I'm not playing music I'm most likely tearing it up on two wheels.

Cade

Drums

I've loved music all of my life, starting piano lessons when I was 5 years old. Once I hit middle school I got my first drum set and haven't looked back since. Though I'm nowhere near their level, I've always looked up to Neil Peart and John Bonham as drummers who were innovative and challenged the status quo. If I'm not drumming you'll find me outside, likely in one of Montana's many rivers fishing.
